Same Sex Marriage in Washington
Posted On 06/30/2009 16:21:44 by tanya_a24

The latest news here on the west coast..... In november, a new law is going to be pushed to be passed in our state... to legalize Same sex marriage. Many churches have been collecting signatures from registered voters all over Washington. So it is now our turn in our city. My city is one of the most Democratic cities ever. Nearly everyone supports same sex marriage. So when representatives came to my church to ask our youth to get involved in this, I was afraid because of the number of people that are for this. The rules for this petition are very strict so they asked our youth to come up stairs to learn how to properly take signatures from people. Sadly, only me and 4 of my friends showed up to walk around and get signatures. Our youth did not want to participate in it.

How the Lord is working through us is amazing. We come up to almost everyone we see, not saying anything about our faith, people just start asking us themselves. And the way God speaks through us is just amazing. We came up to a couple that tried to prove us wrong. Tried to show us the other side of Same sex relationships and how they are good, but we spoke the truth to them. With exact places from the Bible. The places just came to us. God sent us wisdom and words to speak to their hearts. We talked to them for about half an hour and went on walking. to other people. Late they came up to us and asked more questions about our belief. We talked for another half hour.  This time we saw that our truth was really making them think. The wife started looking really nervous and worried. So we said what we had to say. Told them that their Gay friend doesnt really have God in his heart. Next thing we know they are passing us and they say, "Go feed the poor"

Our talk with them really made them think. They couldnt stop thinking about it. It was amazing.

Sadly they didnt sign our petition. Only about 1 out of every 30 people signed the petition.

Slowly but surely we are getting people to sign our petition and if its God's will, this law will not be passed.

We are working hard, visiting churches, parkes, walking from door to door....

i agree with marker, politics and poeple change. as bob dylan said "the times, they are a'changin'". petitions at times work, but with this rallys, "uproars", more outthere things work better. if people see how much and how hard, and sadly how big your project is, the more likely they will stop and join. keep your heads up, erie youth is gna pray for u. God be with you and good luck :)
